This particular project required Conbit’s skills and expertise for the replacement of a lifeboat davit of a 60-man SSI on Shell’s Salsa platform located in the Gulf of America.
While in the execution of the agreed-upon operations, we also replaced a winch davit on the platform
During the entirety of the project, we further assisted with other small jobs on the platform such as repairs to the client’s deck crane – making this a multi-scoped project.
The solution provided by our team of expert engineers was the use of a PLE- Boom structure, which is a single boom.
Components used to construct the PLE-Boom included SL50XS trusses. Other Conbit-developed connections, such as hinges, and 16.5-ton lift heads specifically designed for this project were also used to ensure the project was executed successfully.
Due to the deck crane having no accessibility to the already small lifting location, our team fitted a 32.8 ft long modular single boom crane in one area, the winch 65.6 ft away in another area, and the luffing line connection in a different area.
With this setup, all components needed to be correctly aligned to ensure the maximum and effective usage of the platform’s structure.
