Conbit was contracted by Shell to replace eight hydraulic stabilization cylinders on the Perdido SPAR platform, a critical task to maintain platform stability and safe offshore oil production. The project was divided into two campaigns, with the first phase covering four cylinders. Each unit weighed around 5.5 us tons and was installed in hard-to-reach locations beyond the reach of the platform crane, requiring a specialized lifting and rigging approach. Conbit carried out detailed site assessments and developed a comprehensive engineering plan to streamline offshore operations and reduce time spent on location.

To execute the installation, Conbit utilized the platform’s existing trolley lane and designed a custom rigging solution to transport and position the cylinders safely and precisely. Despite tight working spaces, concurrent offshore activities, and limited operational windows, the team maintained close coordination and flexible scheduling. As a result, the first campaign was completed safely and ahead of schedule, demonstrating Conbit’s expertise in complex offshore lifting projects and ensuring strong preparation for the second campaign.
